It’s made from natural ingredients like coconut water, honey, lemon juice, and sea salt that will quench your thirst and prevent dehydration.

With this recipe you can recreate the classic gatorade flavors— fruit punch, lemon lime, and orange and blue gatorade. But instead of using food coloring, you’ll be using healthy fruit juices.

Homemade Gatorade Ingredients
For the Base
- 2 cups coconut water
- 1-2 tablespoons raw honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp sea salt
Fruit Punch Gatorade
- ⅓ cup mixed fruit juice (such as cherry, pomegranate, grape)
- 1-2 tbsp lime juice
Lemon-Lime Gatorade
- ½ cup fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup fresh lime juice
- 3 tbsp fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp honey
Orange Gatorade
- ⅓ cup fresh orange juice
- ¼ cup mango or pineapple juice
- Zest of ½ orange
Blue Gatorade
- ⅓ cup blueberry juice
- 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
You can also achieve the blue color by combining these ingredients if you don’t have any blueberry juice on hand:
- ⅓ cup coconut water
- 1 tsp spirulina or butterfly pea powder
- 1-2 tbsp lemon juice

How to Make Homemade Gatorade (Natural Electrolyte Drink)
1. First you’ll make your gatorade base by combining coconut water, honey, sea salt, and lemon juice into a large jar or pitcher. Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.
2. To make fruit punch, stir in the mixed fruit juice and lime juice.
3. For lemon lime, mix in lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and honey.
4. To make the blue flavor, add in blueberry juice and lemon juice. You can also make blue gatorade by adding coconut water, spirulina or butterfly pea power, and lemon juice.
5. For orange, mix in fresh orange juice, mango or pineapple juice, and orange zest.
6. Taste and adjust if desired.
7. Refrigerate homemade gatorade for at least 1 hour before serving to ensure it is chilled.
How to Store
Store homemade gatorade in airtight jars or bottles for up to 4 days in the fridge. You can also pour the gatorade mixture into ice cube trays or freezer-safe jars or bottles to freeze. Always allow room for the liquid to expand if freezing— about 1-2 inches of head space. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or make a slushy by blending the frozen gatorade cubes!
