Healthy Hot Chocolate

This healthy hot chocolate recipe is easy to make, tastes irresistibly delicious, and only requires a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients  

  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Optional Toppings:

  • marshmallows
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate shavings

Instructions 

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the cacao powder and maple syrup until well combined.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and gradually whisk in the milk.
  3. Heat the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired temperature. Be careful not to let it boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon.
  5. If desired, pour the hot chocolate into a blender to froth it up.
  6. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings if desired. Enjoy!
